Book signings

Further to yesterday's news, I have arranged to be at two Waterstones stores to sign copies of the paperback of DEITY after its release. I will be in the Derby store on Saturday June 23rd and at the branch in the Trafford Centre, Manchester on June 30th. Both from 10.00am until late afternoon. See you there hopefully.

New Year, New Novel

Happy New Year to all my readers. The cover of the new DI Brook thriller, DEITY, is on the front of the website. I hope you like it as much as I do. I've received a definitive date for the release of DEITY. The hardback will be available from April 26th, presumably the Kindle version will be out at the same time. However, the paperback is released on June 21st, brought forward from August because my good friends at Waterstones have decided to include DEITY in their summer promotion. Great news. So you can be reading a copy of the novel on your sunbed in whatever version you prefer.

I'm excited about DEITY because everyone at Headline who's read it was thrilled with it and very enthusiastic about its prospects.

Oh joy and desolation. My new novel DEITY is in the can and after two weeks pushing myself to the brink of heart failure and insanity it's winging its way to the publisher. Now I've got my life back, as usual I don't know what to do with it. I suppose I could start the next one. Ideas anyone?

Deadline day approaches and the frenzy to add value to the manuscript will soon reach fever pitch. As soon as the test series is finished.

Thanks for all the nice comments still trickling in, in appreciation of The Reaper, which was published all of two years ago now. It still confers a childish kick to read good wishes from around the globe, so thanks Trevor in New Zealand and happy reading.
I spent a very enjoyable evening in the Brunswick pub, Derby last night, meeting and talking with members of Derby Scribes, a community of writers who meet twice a month to discuss their own writing projects and anything of interest in the literary world. It's heartening to know the written word is in the safe hands of such enthusiasts who write the full gamut of genres from graphic novels through horror and fantasy, to my own genre, crime fiction. All writers, or those hoping to start writing, are welcome.
Anyone interested in joining them in their twice monthly meetings can contact Chris Barker on christopher.barker@gmail.com

Time to take a break from writing Deity. There comes a point in every creative act when you just have to leave it alone completely and return to it refreshed and reinvigorated. And this is that time. Happy Easter everyone.
